Did you know Hewlett Packard came to be with the toss of a coin? That’s right – this iconic brand was one ‘heads or tails’ away from being ‘Packard Hewlett’ when Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard tossed a coin to decide what their company would be called.
Yahoo! Was originally called ‘Jerry and David’s Guide to The World Wide Web’ after founders Jerry Yang and David Filo. Not the most concise of names for a concept that was meant to make life easier! The name Yahoo! (an acronym for Yet Another Hierarchical Officious Oracle) was eventually adopted – and aren’t we all grateful for that!
